• The End of the Tail that Wags the Dog

Back on July 5th, we proclaimed that Roberto Luongo’s reign as the straw that stirs the drink was over. From being thrown under the bus by Coach Vigneault during the Chicago series, to the announcement that Cory Schneider would be getting significant starts in the net, to the hiring of a full time goaltending coach to replace Luongo’s preferred consultant, it was clear wholesale jersey that giving up the “C” was not an ”if”, but a “when” proposition. And “when” is now.
Whether this was the team’s idea or Roberto’s idea doesn’t much matter. The team says it was his. But we’re sure that Roberto is cagey enough to know that giving it up was the path of least resistance in baseball jersey free shipping the long run.
Make no mistake, the team’s decision to award the captaincy to Luongo was less about out-of-the-box progressive thinking and more about doing whatever they could to tie Luongo to the franchise long term. And in that National Post sense, the move was a splendid success. Though based on the results of the last two playoff burnouts, you could argue that having him here for the long term MAY not have been the right decision.
